The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Pensacola will host the Real Change community partner event at the Brownsville Community Center Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Real Change is a free event that focuses on opioid addiction education and introduces attendees to the various resources available in the community.

The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society, a leading animal welfare organization working to save the lives of cats and dogs in America’s shelters, for the sixth National Adoption Weekend happening Sept. 15-16. During this time, adoption fees for all cats and dogs one year or older will be free.

Escambia County encourages residents to join in observing National Preparedness Month in September, recognized each year by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This year's theme is, "Take Control in 1, 2, 3," which focuses on preparing older adults for disasters, specifically older adults from communities that are disproportionally impacted by all-hazard events.
