The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is seeking Escambia County residents interested in volunteering to be considered for an appointment to the Escambia County Merit System Protection Board. Residents who wish to apply are asked to submit a resume and letter indicating their desire to serve by the close of business on Jan. 18, 2023.

Due to extreme traffic on Pensacola Beach Friday, July 7, and Saturday, July 8, trolley service to the access road stops at Grand Marlin, Radical Rides, Laguna's, Quietwater Beach and the Boardwalk will be temporarily suspended until 6 p.m. each day.

The Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce Visitor Information Center, in collaboration with the Escambia County Department of Public Safety, will host a cooling center at their facility, located at 7 Casino Beach Boardwalk, during the Pensacola Beach Air Show weekend. The cooling center will be open Thursday, July 6, through Saturday, July 8, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions on Wednesday, July 5, in commission districts 1 and 2. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m. All operations are dependent on weather conditions.

The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is excited to announce its participation in the BISSELL Pet Foundation "Empty the Shelters" event, July 6-31. During this time, adoptions for all cats and dogs 1 year or older will be free. Puppies will be available for $50 and kittens will be available for $25.
