The public is invited to join the Five Flags Amateur Radio Association for the 2025 American Radio Relay League Field Day on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29, part of a series of events throughout North America to highlight and demonstrate ham radio operations.
Escambia County's ARRL Field Day will take place at Ashton Brosnaham Park, 10370 Ashton Brosnaham Drive. Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe the field day demonstrations by local ham radio operators, which will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 28, and ends at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29.
ARRL Field Day is an exercise and contest for North American ham radio operators to go to non-permanent amateur radio locations and set up an emergency operational site. The goal is to meet as many ham radio operators, also known as amateur radio operators, from around the world as possible and to pass messages to selected regional ham radio authorities.
Each June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill, and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach and technical skills all in a single event.
Overall, the goal of ARRL Field Day is to demonstrate to the public the capabilities of Amateur Radio Emergency Services, especially their ability to establish emergency communications without outside assistance.
"I look forward to welcoming our amateur radio friends back to Escambia County's Ashton Brosnaham Park for their annual field day, and I encourage the public to come out and learn more about the important service they provide to the community," District 5 Commissioner Steven Barry said. "Thank you to the Five Flags Amateur Radio Association for their continued dedication to amateur radio operations, and for taking the time to share their expertise with the public through this annual community event."
