Escambia County contractors have hauled 80,485 loads, collecting 4,221,633 cubic yards of Hurricane Sally generated debris. This equals 660 football fields with debris stacked 3 feet high. That's enough debris to fill 91% of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans!

The National Weather Service in Mobile has forecasted a risk for severe storms across the entire area as a strong cold front pushes across the region late Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Temperatures are forecasted to plunge into the 20s inland with low 30s at the beaches by Christmas morning. A wind advisory has been issued as wind conditions with 20-30 mph gusts inland and up to 35-40 mph gusts at the coast are expected. NWS Mobile has issued a gale warning in effect 3 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 24 until 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 25 for the Mississippi Sound, south Mobile Bay and Gulf waters.

Escambia County received its first Moderna vaccine shipment for first responders Wednesday, Dec. 23. Interim Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore was the first employee to receive the Moderna vaccine this morning at the Escambia County Public Safety Building located at 6575 North "W" St. in Pensacola. Escambia County EMTs, paramedics, firefighters and City of Pensacola firefighters who volunteered were vaccinated against COVID-19 today with the Moderna vaccine, and the county will continue to offer it to first responders over the next couple of weeks.

An ECAT bus operator today was transported to a local area hospital by Escambia County EMS after extinguishing an electrical fire at the back of the bus at around 2:30 p.m. The bus stopped along route 52 at the Cordova Mall stop with two passengers onboard. A relief bus was brought in for those two passengers to complete the route.
