Meals will be offered at library locations throughout Escambia County from May 25-Aug. 9, 2022. Disabled individuals 19 years of age and older who participate in a public or private non-profit school program during the school year are also eligible to receive meals. The "Meals for Youth" program is sponsored by Feeding the Gulf Coast.

Meals will be offered at the following library branches:

  • Pensacola Library: 12-1 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Century Library: 12-1 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday
  • Genealogy Library: 12-1 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday
  • Molino Library: 12-1 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Southwest Library: 12-1 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Tryon Library:  12-1 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Westside Library: 12-1 p.m., Monday through Friday
"Many youth lose crucial access to nutritional meals during the summer," says Library Services Director Todd Humble. "West Florida Public Libraries is thrilled to partner with Feeding the Gulf Coast to ensure the youth in our community can still have access to meals at no cost."

In addition, WFPL will provide several summer reading challenges and programs to allow youth to stay engaged with educational activities. "When children aren't in school and miss out on regular classroom learning and access to nutrition, we see a decline in their development," says Humble. "In addition to providing healthy meals, our summer reading programs will help youth stay engaged with educational activities while school is out. West Florida Public Libraries is here to assist in nourishing the body and the mind."

Feeding the Gulf Coast is a Feeding America affiliated food bank serving 24-counties throughout south Alabama, south Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle. Visit here for more information. For more library locations and hours of operation, visit mywfpl.com/locations.
