  • ECAT Bus Involved in a Motor Vehicle Crash

    An Escambia County Area Transit bus was involved in a motor vehicle crash with a minivan near Chisholm Road and E. Johnson Avenue. Three riders were on the bus. One rider was transported by EMS to a local area hospital and the remaining riders will be picked up by another bus to continue Route 45. ECFR and EMS units (M15, E7, S40) were dispatched at 3:05 p.m. Escambia County Sheriff's Office also responded and the Florida Highway Patrol was notified.

    Residents of Oakfield will have the opportunity to dispose of yard debris and other items free of charge Friday, Aug. 13 during the Neighborhood Cleanup in District 3. Only residents in the designated cleanup area are able to participate in the neighborhood cleanup. Items left at the curb outside of the cleanup area will not be collected.   • Escambia County Work Annex Inmate Captured after Brief Escape

    An inmate from the Escambia County Jail escaped from road crew work detail at approximately 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10. Inmate Lance Chatman, a 31-year-old white male escaped while working at Aston Broshnaham Park. Escambia County Corrections K-9 captured him within 21 minutes. The inmate was transported back to the Escambia County jail and will be charged with escape.

  • Lane Closure Scheduled for Aug. 10-12 on Chemstrand Road between Arnett and Chadson Streets

    Chemstrand Road between Arnett Street and Chadson Street will experience intermittent nighttime roadway lane closures or lane shifts beginning Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. One lane of traffic will be closed between 8 p.m. - 5 a.m., Aug. 10-12 due to crews installing a 36-inch storm drainpipe across Chemstrand Road. Chemstrand Road between Arnett Street and Chadson Street may be closed to through traffic during this time.

  • Board Approves Eric Gilmore as Escambia County's Public Safety Director

    Escambia County is pleased to announce Eric Gilmore will be the county's public safety director. The promotion was included as a recommendation to the board on Aug. 5, 2021, which passed unanimously. Responsibilities include oversight of daily operations and planning for long-term improvements for Escambia County EMS, Emergency Management, county dispatch and 911 center, the Pensacola Beach Lifeguards, the county medical director, as well as Escambia County Fire Rescue's combination career and volunteer division.

  • District 3 Lincoln Park Neighborhood Cleanup Collects 67 Tons of Debris

    Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 67 tons (134,000 pounds) of debris during the District 3 Lincoln Park Neighborhood Cleanup on July 28, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.

Community Redevelopment Agency and Agenda Review will begin at 9 a.m., Public Forum will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by the BCC Regular Meeting at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

    On Saturday, Aug. 7, Community Health Northwest Florida, in partnership with with Escambia County District 3 County Commissioner Lumon May, will host “Back-to-School Vax and Dash,” a COVID-19 vaccination clinic and backpack giveaway at Brownsville Community Center, 3200 W. De Soto St., Pensacola. All individuals ages 12 and up, including students, parents, guardians and teachers are eligible and encouraged to participate.

    Escambia County’s nesting season has just passed its halfway mark, with a total of 19 nests on Pensacola Beach and four on Perdido Key. Of the 23 nests discovered, 22 are Loggerhead with one Green nest on Pensacola Beach. While the season got off to a slow start, nesting activity picked up through June and July.
