Kimberly Bouse accepted her proclamation as Employee of the Month with her family; John Robinson, Animal Welfare Director; and Dr. Johnna Lee, Veterinarian at the Department of Animal Welfare.

Escambia County is pleased to recognize Kimberly Bouse, a Veterinary Technician in the Department of Animal Welfare, as the May 2022 Employee of the Month. The board recognized Kimberly’s selection during the May 5 BCC meeting.

Kimberly is on her second stint at the Animal Welfare & Adoption Center; previously, she served as Senior Kennel Technician but left to focus on family. Kimberly rejoined Escambia County on July 28, 2020, as a Veterinary Technician. In her role, she is responsible for assisting the veterinarian with spay and neuter surgeries, emergency treatments, dispensing medications, handling foster families, and daily care and monitoring.

When the veterinary clinic saw staffing shortages beginning at the end of 2021, Kimberly stepped up to keep the clinic moving and efficient while being the only veterinary technician available. The Department of Animal Welfare requires staff to be available 365 days a year, requiring daily input from the medical team. Kimberly made herself available to assist with those needs until the vacant positions were filled.

“Kimberly is the perfect team player, willing to help everyone on our staff with any issues they may have,” said Animal Welfare Director John Robinson. “Her experience working with the Animal Welfare and Adoption Center before becoming a veterinary technician is paramount to our team’s success. She is a dedicated team member who is committed to the success of our department while providing exceptional care to the animals and citizens of Escambia County.”

Outside of her role with Escambia County, Kimberly serves as a mentor to students from Pensacola State College’s Veterinary Technician program and enjoys spending time with family.
