The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is seeking county residents interested in volunteering for an appointment to the Escambia County Disability Awareness Committee, which was established by the board during its regular meeting on Oct. 17, 2013. Escambia County residents interested in serving on the committee are asked to submit a resume and letter indicating their desire to serve by the close of business Friday, Feb. 5. Applications are available online at myescambia.com or in person at the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located at 221 Palafox Place, fourth floor. The application consists of several parts: an Escambia County CSC application, a questionnaire for Gubernatorial Appointments and an optional resume. Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 47 tons (94,000 pounds) of debris during the District 2 Navy Point and Beach Haven Neighborhood Cleanup on Jan. 15, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe.
