  • REMINDER: Volunteers Sought for Escambia County Disability Awareness Committee

    The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is seeking county residents interested in volunteering for an appointment to the Escambia County Disability Awareness Committee, which was established by the board during its regular meeting on Oct. 17, 2013. Escambia County residents interested in serving on the committee are asked to submit a resume and letter indicating their desire to serve by the close of business Friday, Feb. 5. Letters and resumes should be submitted to Shamara Jernigan, Program Coordinator, Board of County Commissioners, P.O. Box 1591, Pensacola, FL 32502, or emailed to BoardApply@myescambia.com.

  • CSX Temporary Road Closures for Escambia County to Begin Wednesday

    CSX crews will be laying new rail ties throughout northern Escambia County as part of its network-wide crossing maintenance program. The work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Jan. 27, and intermittent closures are expected to remain through Saturday, Feb. 6.

The media are asked to meet outside the new facility entrance, located at 3080 N. Pace Blvd., Pensacola, on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 9:45 a.m. for a 10 a.m. escorted group tour. Safety equipment will be provided, and closed-toed shoes are required.

    The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications from county residents to serve on the Children's Services Council (CSC). Applications are available online at myescambia.com or in person at the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located at 221 Palafox Place, fourth floor. The application consists of several parts: an Escambia County CSC application, a questionnaire for Gubernatorial Appointments and an optional resume. Both applications must be completed and submitted together to be considered for an appointment. The deadline to apply is Jan. 30, 2021 by 5 p.m. CST.

  • Navy Point and Beach Haven Neighborhood Cleanup Collects 47 Tons of Debris

    Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 47 tons (94,000 pounds) of debris during the District 2 Navy Point and Beach Haven Neighborhood Cleanup on Jan. 15, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.
