Six months ago, communities across 14 affected counties in Florida experienced the devastating effects of Hurricane Sally. Since the hurricane made landfall Sept. 16, 2020, federal assistance for recovery in those counties is approximately $269.2 million. This includes National Flood Insurance Program insurance payments; FEMA grants for temporary rental assistance, basic home repairs, and other needs not covered by insurance; and U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses.

UF/IFAS Extension Escambia County will host the 2021 Cover Crops and Soil Moisture Field Day at Sam and Scott Walker’s field on April 15, 2021 at 9 a.m. The event and demonstration will take place at the field located on the corner of Highway 99 and Melvin Road in Oak Grove. This field is about a mile south of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Residents of North Davis will have the opportunity to dispose of yard debris and other items free of charge Wednesday, March 17 during the Neighborhood Cleanup in District 4. Only residents in the designated cleanup area are able to participate in the neighborhood cleanup. Items left at the curb outside of the cleanup area will not be collected. Thibault, P.E. has directed Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) to further extend the toll suspension for the Garcon Point Bridge.
