The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Liz Bush, Construction Manager in the Facilities Management department, as the September 2022 Employee of the Month. Liz’s selection was recognized at the Sept. 1, 2022, BCC meeting.
Liz began her career with Escambia County on April 7, 2004, as an Engineering Project Coordinator in the Engineering department. In September 2013, she was promoted to Senior Project Coordinator and became Construction Manager in 2015. In June 2021, she transferred to the Facilities Management department in her current role as Construction Manager. Her first assignment as Construction Manager was to provide project management duties to a list of approximately 150 projects for Hurricane Sally repairs to county-owned facilities. Liz oversaw 85 of the projects while maintenance technicians handled the remaining 65. The projects varied in size, from painting damaged wall board to complete roof replacements. Liz demonstrated the initiative to organize the projects into a design and procurement matrix. After one year of diligent and efficient effort, only 14 of the original 150 projects remain.
In addition, Liz took on additional project portfolio elements to her Hurricane Sally work efforts, including refresh projects at Pensacola Beach. The projects consisted of rehabilitation for Park West, Casino Beach and Quietwater Beach. At these locations, Liz oversaw reconstruction of four beach walkovers, reroofing, repainting and repairs to 32 beach-side pavilions and three free-standing restrooms, along with repainting and structural repairs to the Casino Beach pavilion.
Within the department, Liz has been recognized for her charismatic personality and honest, friendly and experienced professionalism. Her colleagues have praised her for her communications skills and her willingness to ensure every voice is heard and every idea is considered.
“Liz’s readiness to take on any task that keeps the department and county moving forward is commendable,” said Facilities Management Director Rob Hogan. “Liz is a problem-solver with an amazing work ethic and keen eye for detail. She insists on only the highest quality product from contractors. Liz is not afraid to deal with difficult situations and has the ability to handle them head-on. The positive impacts of her efforts are easily recognizable to the community, and we are blessed to have her as an asset to the county.”
The Escambia County BCC commends and congratulates Liz on her selection as the September 2022 Employee of the Month.
