Beanstack: Summer 2022: Sail the Seven Seas on an Ocean of Possibilities

The Summer Reading and Summer STEAM challenge of 2022 is all about oceanography. Set sail across the seven seas on an ocean of possibilities! Complete groups of reading activities to earn prizes and digital raffle tickets. Attend community programs and STEAM events to earn additional raffle tickets. Apply your raffle tickets for a chance to win a system-wide grand prize in your age group. Log all reading activities, program attendance, and digital raffle tickets in Beanstack by midnight on July 31 to be eligible for the grand-prize drawings! A paper copy of the challenge will be available. Preregistration for the challenge will begin on Monday, May 16.

Legal Services of North Florida

Legal Services of North Florida (LSNF) is one of seven legal service organizations in Florida. Our program, in the 16 counties of North Florida, works hard to meet the legal needs of children, the elderly, victims of abuse, and those with disabilities. LSNF’s priority areas of representation include support for families; preserving the home; maintaining economic stability; safety, stability and health; and serving populations with special vulnerabilities. These translate to cases involving Family Law, Housing, Public Benefits, Employment, Education, and Health Care issues. LSNF’s purpose is to provide case representation and advice to low-income persons in civil matters only. LSNF serves only the low-income and those with certain vulnerable circumstances including the elderly. LSNF never charges a fee for our services to a client. Join the Popular Literary Book Club as we discuss The Long Call by Ann Cleeves. In North Devon, where two rivers converge and run into the sea, Detective Matthew Venn stands outside the church as his father's funeral takes place. Once loved and cherished, the day Matthew left the strict evangelical community he grew up in, he lost his family too. Now, as he turns and walks away again, he receives a call from one of his team. A body has been found on the beach nearby: a man with a tattoo of an albatross on his neck, stabbed to death. Hunter Safety Class

Community Resources Highlight: The Council on Aging of West Florida Inc.

The Council on Aging of West Florida is a local, independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that has served seniors and their families since 1972. Council on Aging of West Florida helps seniors in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties live healthy, safe and independent lives in their own familiar surroundings by providing community-based, in-home programs and services such as Meals on Wheels and Alzheimer's respite care, which is provided by our Adult Day Care Center. Other programs and services include case management, the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs, caregiver support and training, and the operation of numerous senior dining sites throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.
