Agenda review begins at 9 a.m., public forum begins at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

  • FDOT: New Traffic Signal Planned for Doug Ford Drive-Sorrento Road

  • River Road Closure, Culvert Repairs to Begin Oct. 17

    River Road will experience a road closure with detours beginning Tuesday, Oct. 17. During this time, construction crews will install a new box culvert under the roadway. The closure will extend 175 feet in both directions from the creek adjacent to 14620 River Road. The road is expected to re-open by January 2024, with work expected to be completed by February 2024.

  • UF/IFAS Extension Peanut Butter Challenge Kicks Off Oct. 1

    The Peanut Butter Challenge is an annual jar collection for local food pantries hosted by UF/IFAS Extension and Florida A&M University Cooperative Extension. Launched in the Florida Panhandle counties in 2012, it is again spreading statewide this year. Unopened jars of peanut butter can be donated to the Escambia County Extension office, located at 3740 Stefani Road, Cantonment, Fla 32533, from Oct. 1-31.

  • Reminder: Escambia County Participating in BISSELL Pet Foundation "Empty the Shelters"

    The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is participating in the BISSELL Pet Foundation "Empty the Shelters" event now until Oct. 15. During this time, adoptions for all cats and dogs 1 year or older will be free. Puppies will be available for $50 and kittens will be available for $25. An $11 licensing fee will be applied to all adoptions for Escambia County residents. View all adoptable pets at the Animal Welfare and Adoption Center on 24petconnect.com.

  • Four-Way Stop Installed at Boyd Avenue and Geeker Street Intersection

    Escambia County's Engineering department has completed signage and striping improvements at the intersection of Boyd Avenue and Geeker Street in District 4. Additional stop signs and white bars have been added to the intersection, changing the intersection from a through turning movement to a four-way stop.

  • Reminder: Real Change Escambia Community Event Tomorrow

    The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Pensacola will host the Real Change community partner event at the Brownsville Community Center Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Real Change is a free event that focuses on opioid addiction education and introduces attendees to the various resources available in the community.
