This is a chance for residents to dispose of items such as old furniture, appliances and household waste free of charge. Yard debris is eligible for removal during this cleanup.

  • Reminder: BCC to Hold Regular Meeting Nov. 2

    The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will hold regular meetings Thursday, Nov. 2. Agenda review begins at 9 a.m., public forum begins at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

  • McElhaney Road Drainage Improvements Begin Oct. 31

    Construction crews have begun work to install new box culverts and concrete pipes for storm drain improvements on McElhaney Road between Old Bratt and Cecil roads Tuesday, Oct. 31. Due to construction, road closures with detours are in place. Traffic will be detoured along Old Bratt Road to south on Morton Road, to Cecils Road and west back to McElhaney Road. The road is expected to re-open by January 2024.

  • UPDATED: Cold Weather Sheltering Opens Tuesday, Oct. 31, in Escambia County

    Due to freezing temperatures forecasted for Escambia County beginning Tuesday, Oct. 31, Waterfront Rescue Mission, located at 380 W. Herman St., will be open for cold weather sheltering. No fee will be collected during cold weather operations. Waterfront Rescue Mission will be extending their daytime hours for their day-use facility to act as a warming center for both men and women.

  • FFS: High Winds, Dry Weather Create Dangerous Combination

    Officials with the Florida Forest Service’s Blackwater Forestry Center are putting a halt to issuing authorizations for all prescribed or pile burns as increased winds and extremely low humidity arrives in the area for the next several days. The cold front coupled with a lack of rain over the past several weeks make for extremely dangerous conditions if any fires were to start.

  • West Moreno Street Detours Due to Storm Drainage Installation

    Construction work on West Moreno Street began Friday, Oct. 27, with detours in place between North "Q" and North "S" streets. Crews are installing a storm drainage system along West Moreno Street, and the road is expected to reopen by Friday, Nov, 10.

  • Ashton Brosnaham Dog Park Closed During SEC Tournament

    The dog park at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex will be closed during the SEC Women's Soccer Tournament, Oct. 29 to Nov. 5. The dog park will re-open Monday, Nov. 6. Residents with dogs are encouraged to visit the Beulah Regional Park, located at 7820 Mobile Highway; Regency Park, located at 8245 Fathom Road; or Santa Maria Plaza, located at 199 Madrid Road.

  • Escambia County Investing Millions in Brownsville Revitalization

    Escambia County has invested millions of dollars into revitalizing Brownsville over the past several years, with millions in additional improvements planned for the Brownsville neighborhood. Improvements so far include over 4 miles of new sidewalks, more than 7 miles of repaved roadways, and additional playground and exercise equipment at the Brownsville Community Center park.
