This is a chance for residents to dispose of items such as old furniture, appliances and household waste free of charge. Yard debris is eligible for removal during this cleanup.

Escambia County's Natural Resources Management Department invites residents to attend the 2nd Annual Northwest Florida Regional Resiliency Seminar Friday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Resource Center, 913 S. Considered a "role model of excellence as an EMS provider in the state of Florida," Escambia County Emergency Medical Services has passed the Bureau of Emergency Medical Oversight's Compliance Monitoring site survey with no deficiencies found, with the Bureau praising Escambia County EMS for its exemplary service and organization. This inspection marks Escambia County EMS’s second state inspection since 2021, both of which were passed with zero deficiencies.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will hold its regular meeting Thursday, May 2. Agenda review begins at 9 a.m., public forum begins at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

Escambia County Sea Turtle Conservation Program volunteers greeted the sun early this morning, May 1, as they officially welcomed the start of sea turtle nesting season. Today marked their first daily morning patrol on Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key, looking for nesting and other turtle activity occurring overnight.

The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is excited to partner with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for the "Empty the Shelters" adoption event, starting Saturday, April 27 until Wednesday, May 15. During this time, adoptions for all cats and dogs 1 year or older will be free. Puppies will be available for $50 and kittens will be available for $25. An $11 licensing fee will be applied to all adoptions for Escambia County residents.

Escambia County Waste Services is making changes to the free re-blended paint program schedule, which will allow the county to provide a better variety of paint colors to the public at no charge. Beginning Thursday, May 2, Waste Services will offer free re-blended paint on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Perdido Landfill, 13009 Beulah Road.
