On Friday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m., Escambia County Fire Rescue will host a press conference regarding a recent rescue that occurred on Saturday, Oct. 7, during a residential structure fire. Battalion Chief Curt Isakson will discuss the rescue of a civilian from the fire, the role EMS and Emergency Communications played in the successful rescue, and ECFR's role during Fire Prevention Month. One or more commissioners may be in attendance.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will hold regular meetings Thursday, Oct. 19. Public forum begins at 8:30 a.m. and the regular meeting begins at 9 a.m. Both meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

Escambia County Parks and Recreation and Pensacola Sports celebrated a new facility at the Ashton Brosnaham Athletic Park with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Oct. 18, just in time for the Southeastern Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament scheduled to kick off at the park Oct. 29.

Pensacola Beach Lifeguards will shift to winter staffing levels Monday, Oct. 16. At that time, lifeguard towers will be removed from the beach until the 2024 lifeguard season. Lifeguards will maintain a presence on Pensacola Beach throughout the winter at Casino Beach and via patrol vehicles.

An outage affecting Escambia County phone lines has been resolved. Wednesday afternoon, Escambia County phone lines were unable to place or receive calls due to an outage. The outage affected all BCC offices and constitutionals.
