  • Escambia County Corrections Suspends Road Crew Services for a Second Time due to COVID-19

    Escambia County Corrections received a positive COVID-19 test result at the work annex, formerly known as the road prison. As a precaution, Escambia County will suspend road crew operations that provide services throughout the county for a second time. These services include, but are not limited to, grounds keeping throughout the county and support to the landfill, animal services, code enforcement and fleet maintenance.

    Escambia County Emergency Management continues to monitor the weather and has been on calls with the State of Florida Emergency Operations Center and the National Weather Service. If Hurricane Marco and Tropical Storm Laura stay on their current paths toward Louisiana, Escambia County expects minor coastal flooding with a high risk of rip currents and high surf. There could be some beach erosion throughout the week. Wind speeds are not expected to warrant bridge closures.
