In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions Thursday, Oct. 1 in Commission Districts 1, 2, 3 and 5. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners, City of Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson, Florida State Senator Doug Broxson and Florida House Representative Alex Andrade have sent a letter to the White House requesting FEMA Individual Disaster Assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Sally. The Florida Panhandle was hit with a Category 2 hurricane on Sept. 16, 2020 with over 105 mph sustained wind, gusts up to 123 mph, over 30 inches of rain and water inundation as high as 15 feet in the Perdido Key area.
