    On Monday, Feb. 6, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a proclamation declaring Feb. 6-10, 2023 as Florida Severe Weather Awareness Week. Throughout the week, Escambia County Emergency Management will spend each day working to increase awareness and emphasize the importance of preparedness for severe weather hazards.

  • Extended: Animal Welfare Waives Adoption Fees Until Feb. 14

    The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare will offer a "Home for the Holidays" adoption special now through Dec. 31, 2022. Anyone looking to adopt will be able to take home a cat or kitten for $10, or a dog or puppy for just $25. Escambia County residents are required to pay a separate $11 licensing fee at the time of adoption.

    Join Escambia County, Escambia Extension and Florida Master Gardeners for free coastal landscaping workshops and plant giveaways. All workshops will focus on landscaping with native species found in local coastal ecosystems, particularly those on the barrier islands. Topics of discussion will include plant selection, landscape design and landscaping with a purpose, such as for pollinators or wildlife.
