Starting Friday, May 5, a controlled permitted burn of debris will take place at the project site of the Perdido Bay Boat Ramp, 10808 Lillian Highway. The boat ramp is currently under construction and a burn is necessary to clear debris on the project site. The burn will be performed by Hewes and Company, LLC.

Your participation will help the state of Florida identify gaps in high-speed internet service in order to advance the state’s overall broadband infrastructure expansion goals.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will hold regular meetings Thursday, May 4. Agenda review begins at 9a.m., public forum begins at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

This is a chance for residents to dispose of items such as old furniture, appliances and household waste free of charge. Yard debris is eligible for removal during this cleanup.

Hurricane Preparedness Week 2023 is April 30-May 6. Escambia County Emergency Management encourages residents to take time during the week to prepare their homes for the upcoming hurricane season. The 2023 hurricane season will take place between June 1-Nov. 30.
