  • Flood-related Legal Advice for Renters

    Following the storms on April 29 and 30, 2014, many rental properties in our area were flooded, damaging the houses and rental units. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and local Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) are receiving complaints from tenants who are being asked to move from these rental units by the landlords or owners of the property. \r\nLandlords are encouraged to seek advice from a private attorney before terminating leases to ensure it is being done legally. \r\n

  • Lane Closures Planned for I-10 in Escambia County

    The right lane of westbound Interstate 10 near the Scenic Highway overpass at exit 17 will be closed from 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, to 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 16. Additionally, traffic in the left lane of Interstate 10 will be slowed by Florida Highway Patrol escort vehicles between the hours of 12 a.m. and 5 a.m.

    Crews will perform pavement core sampling and surveying on State Road 97 over Sandy Hollow Creek Bridge, Hanks Road over Breastworks Creek Bridge and Bratt Road over Canoe Creek Bridge in Escambia County on Tuesday, May 13. Lane restrictions will be in effect from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

  • Flooding Event Update - Central Booking Update: News Release #13

    The Florida State Fire Marshal has returned custody of the Escambia County Central Booking and Detention facility back to the control of the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners. The State Fire Marshal’s Office took over control of the property following an explosion within the building on Wednesday April 30th. Attached at the bottom of this page is a letter from the State Fire Marshal’s Office regarding the transition and the status of the ongoing investigation.

  • Night Work on Perdido Key Drive

    Drivers will encounter lane closures on State Road 292 (Perdido Key Drive) from the Alabama/Florida state line to just west of River Road from 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, to 6 a.m. on Friday, May 9. Crews will be restriping and placing new pavement markings along the roadway.
