The Escambia County Marine Advisory Committee is hosting a special Scuba Diving Safety Symposium Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in room 104 of the Escambia County Central Office Complex, located at 3363 West Park Place in Pensacola. The event will facilitate discussion between divers, diving professionals, diving emergency responders and diving medical professionals.

District 5 Commissioner Steven Barry will host a community meeting Monday, Jan. 23 to discuss and answer citizens' questions about Escambia County's Optional Sector Plan. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Langley Bell 4-H Center, located at 3730 Stefani Road. Commissioner Barry and county staff will also be available to answer questions and take feedback before the meeting between 4 and 5:15 p.m.

Residents in the Myrtle Grove area will have the opportunity to dispose of yard debris and other items free of charge Wednesday, Feb. 1 during the Myrtle Grove Northeast neighborhood cleanup in District 2. The Escambia County Waste Services Department will host the next Regional Roundup on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 8 a.m. until noon at Escambia High School, located at 1310 N. 65th Ave. Regional Roundup events provide an opportunity to properly dispose of electronics, household hazardous waste and up to four tires per vehicle, free of charge.
