The Escambia County Waste Services Department will host the next Regional Roundup tomorrow from 8 a.m. until noon at Escambia High School, located at 1310 N. 65th Ave. Regional Roundup events provide an opportunity to properly dispose of electronics, household hazardous waste and up to four tires per vehicle, free of charge.

Escambia County Fire Rescue will be distributing free smoke detectors Saturday, Feb. 11 at 8 a.m. during a neighborhood canvas in the Lakewood area. During the event, ECFR firefighters will be walking the neighborhood, knocking on doors and offering to install a smoke detector.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners welcomes Tamyra Jarvis as the new Director of Corrections, with responsibilities to include oversight of the Escambia County Jail, Community Corrections Division and Road Prison. Jarvis joins Escambia County from Coleman, Florida, where she served as the CEO and complex warden at the Federal Correctional Complex within the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
