UF/IFAS Escambia County Extension will host a new educational series, "The Science Hour," beginning Thursday, June 15. Offered once a month for six months, the series will explore local topics such as climate change, stormwater pollution, bats, and more. Each session is free to the public and held at the Escambia County Central Office Complex.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will meet Tuesday, Aug. 8 and Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to hear request for proposal presentations for the new jail facility from the three-short listed firms. The meeting will be held in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, 221 Palafox Place.

Escambia County is offering a free summer feeding program for children 18 and under at the Carver Park Resource Center, located at 208 Webb St. in Cantonment. The program will run Tuesday, May 30 through the start of school in August, offering breakfast at 9 a.m. and lunch at noon Mondays-Fridays.
