Don't miss UF/IFAS Escambia County Extension's next "Science Hour," where water quality will be the topic of discussion. Come learn and discuss what is currently being done and how citizens can help improve the water quality in the Pensacola Bay System. The free event is Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Escambia County Central Office Complex,
3363 West Park Place.
Science Hour is a new series that began in June where local topics are explored. Each session is free to the public and held at 6 p.m. in the Escambia County Central Office Complex. Additional dates and topics include:
- October 19, Bats - Bats and vampires get a lot of bad press around Halloween, but these creatures play an extremely important role in the environment year round. Learn more about local species of bats, their many benefits to human health, and how to attract them to your yard.
- November 16, Stormwater Pollution - Stormwater is a major environmental issue both in terms of flooding and non point source pollution. We will discuss how low impact design features can be implemented in our community to both prevent stormwater from entering our waterways and treat it as it does.
