A fire on the 8900 block of Mobile Highway represents the fourth red bulb on the “Keep the Wreath Green” fire safety wreath. Escambia County Emergency Communications received the call at 4:32 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11 from a resident of the home reporting a fire in the ceiling.

One hundred smoke detectors were installed by Escambia County Fire Rescue in 71 homes in the Lakewood area today, the largest number ever installed by county fire crews in one day. On Saturday, Dec. 10, volunteers from First Baptist Church of Warrington and ECFR firefighters walked the neighborhood, knocking on doors and offering to install a new smoke detector with a 10-year battery at no charge.

Regional Roundup events provide an opportunity to properly dispose of electronics, household hazardous waste and up to four tires per vehicle, free of charge.
