Binkley Street at East Olive Road will experience closures and detours on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The road will be closed to all through traffic. Residents will have access to their properties from East Johnson Avenue. Construction will consist upgrading and installing new pipe.

Escambia County Fire Rescue is partnering with the Escambia County School District to attend open house events for 11 local elementary schools, with a goal of promoting fire safety and the county's free smoke detector program. ECFR firefighters and staff will be distributing information about the program, and attendees will have the opportunity to sign up to have a free smoke detector installed in their home.

The bridge over Alligator Creek located on Crabtree Church Road will close immediately for repairs until further notice. Escambia County received notice from the Florida Department of Transportation on Monday, Aug. 21 that the bridge needed to be closed.
