    Escambia County is proud to announce Vice-Chairman and District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender has been selected to serve on the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) Finance, Tax and Administration (FTA) committee and the Water and Environmental Sustainability (WES) committee by the President and Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay. He was also appointed to the Florida Counties Foundation Board of Directors which oversees the training and education institute for county governments.

  • Escambia County Fire Rescue Urges Residents to 'Look Before You Lock'

    Escambia County Fire Rescue urges citizens to never leave children alone in cars and to be extra cautious during these warm summer months. According to the National Safety Council, there have been over 800 child deaths due to vehicular heatstroke with 2018 being the deadliest year on record with 53 child fatalities. Of the 800 fatalities recorded, 24% of those were in employer parking lots while the parent or guardian went to work. The causes of the tragedies are simply being in too big of a hurry and forgetting.

With the loss of labor crews from Escambia County Corrections, the county will not have manpower to manage illegal dumping at the sites.   • Escambia County Corrections Suspends Road Crew Services Until Further Notice

    Escambia County Corrections received its first positive test result at the work annex, formerly known as the road prison, today, July 9. As a precaution, the medical recommendation is to suspend road crew operations that provide services throughout the county. These services include, but are not limited to, grounds keeping throughout the county and support to the landfill, animal services, code enforcement and fleet maintenance.

    Escambia County is pleased to announce an enhanced COVID-19 dashboard at myescambia.com/covid19dashboard. The enhanced dashboard now also include cases per day showing previous days, the positivity rate per week, testing per week, current COVID-19 hospitalizations provided by the local hospitals and available hospital and ICU beds per the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). The dashboard is also mobile-friendly, and it will be linked from the county's COVID-19 and home web pages. Please note some of the frames have arrows or tabs to display additional data.

  • Excelsior Drive Closures and Detours Scheduled to Begin Wednesday, July 8

    Excelsior Drive will experience road closures and detours beginning Wednesday, July 8 for approximately two weeks. Excelsior Drive will be closed to through traffic at 9 a.m. Traffic will be detoured along Olive Road to Six Pence Drive detoured around to the north intersection of Pompano Drive and Excelsior Drive. Excelsior Drive can be accessed at the intersection of Pompano Drive and Excelsior Drive.
