Ascension Sacred Heart
- Ascension Sacred Hearth has vaccinated approximately 5,000 seniors in Escambia and Santa Rosa County. Scheduled appointments have filled very quickly in clinics due to the strong demand for the new vaccines.
- Ascension Sacred Heart will schedule more clinics as additional vaccine becomes available.
- Ascension Sacred Heart's COVID-19 testing sites in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties will be closed on Monday, Jan. 18, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The drive-thru testing center in Pensacola will also be closed on Saturday, Jan. 16, Sunday, Jan. 17 and Monday, Jan. 18.

In a video released Jan. 8, Baptist Health Care President and CEO Mark Faulkner provides an update on the extremely high number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the local area and encourages the community to remain vigilant in efforts to prevent the spread of infection including wearing a mask, washing hands, social distancing and avoiding gatherings. Faulkner says local hospitals have not yet seen the holiday surge, but every effort is being made to prepare for it. He reminds the community that this is an extremely difficult and stressful time for health care workers. Faulkner also discusses the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Baptist Health Care's COVID testing will be operating as normal on Monday, Jan. 18. Call the screening center at 850-434-4080 to determine if you need an appointment. Online assessment screenings are also available via their website or text “Screen” to 850-318-3080. The online assessment screening is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To schedule a future appointment, visit getascensioncare.com/access/florida/pensacola/ and and monitor the Sacred Heart Facebook page for announcements. They will continue to hold clinics as supply becomes available.
- Florida- Sign up for text message updates about the vaccine and distribution by texting "FLCOVID19" to 888777. After you submit the text message, it will ask you to supply your zip code for local-level updates. Florida Department of Health in Escambia County
- FDOH-Escambia announced its COVID-19 Vaccination Program. COVID-19 vaccines are currently being prioritized for health care providers with direct patient contact and persons 65 years of age and older. If you are in one of these groups and interested in receiving a vaccine, please complete the Vaccination Request Form. Completion of this form confirms interest in vaccination. - FDOH-Escambia announced their COVID-19 testing site closure to support contact tracing efforts. COVID-19 testing sites continue to be available at several locations in Escambia County, visit Escambia County’s COVID-19 webpage.
- The Florida Department of Health (the Department) issued a Public Health Advisory recommending the following: all individuals in Florida should wear face coverings in any setting where social distancing is not possible, and all individuals should refrain from participation in social or recreational gatherings of more than 10 people.
- As of 2 p.m., Jan. 13, Escambia County has had 26,212 positive COVID-19 cases. This number is expected to change daily due to the return of results from ongoing testing. The best source for up-to-date information regarding confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Florida is the Florida Department of Health website and the associated Data and Surveillance Dashboard and Daily Report. The site is currently updated once daily, at around 2 p.m. CT.
- The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Escambia County residents is 432 individuals.
- The Department releases a list of long-term care facilities in Florida associated with COVID-19 cases with active cases and number of deaths in each facility in order to provide real-time data. The list of long-term care facilities with active COVID-19 cases is available here.
- The Florida Department of Health has launched Healthy Together, a mobile app that can help a person view their test results, assess their symptoms and learn what to do after they have been tested for COVID-19. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store by searching for “Healthy Together”. Individuals whose results are uploaded into Healthy Together with a phone number will automatically receive a text notifying them that their results are available in the app.
- Florida has launched a COVID-19 Vaccine Report that will be updated daily at http://FloridaHealthCOVID19.gov. This report includes a breakdown of who has received the vaccine by age, race, sex and county. As of January 13, 11,421 Escambia County residents have been vaccinated.
- Governor Ron DeSantis has signed Executive Order 20-315 which outlines that providers can only administer the COVID-19 vaccine to the following groups:
- Long-term care facility residents and staff.
- Persons 65 years of age and older.
- Health care personnel with direct patient contact.
- Persons deemed to be extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by hospital providers.

- The Florida Department of Health issued an update on the proactive actions and progress on the state's vaccine distribution plan, as well as its weekly COVID-19 update. The State of Florida is in its fourth week of vaccine distribution and doses have been delivered to all of Florida's 67 county health departments and hospitals in every region across the state. Thanks to the administration’s proactive efforts to prepare for vaccine distribution, Florida was the first state in the nation to begin vaccinating staff and residents of long-term care facilities, as well as to the broader senior population.

FDOH-Escambia received an additional Moderna vaccine allotment. We are in the process of contacting individuals who completed the COVID-19 Vaccination Request Form to schedule appointments. Each form submission includes a time stamp, which is taken into consideration when scheduling appointments.

Florida Division of Emergency Management
- An additional closed point of dispensing will take place on Sunday, Jan. 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Brownsville Community Center 3200 W. DeSoto St., Pensacola, FL 32505. All the vouchers have been distributed throughout the county. Only those with an appointment scheduled and a voucher may attend. Attendees also need to present a photo ID and a completed FDOH consent form.
- The Florida Division of Emergency Management piloted a vaccination point of distribution in Escambia County starting with 574 underserved adults 65 and over at the Brownsville Community Center, 3200 W. DeSoto St., on Sunday, Jan. 3. This was announced by the Governor on Jan. 4 with a focus on deploying the vaccine into underserved communities.
- Those receiving the first dose on Jan. 17 will need to return to the Brownsville Community Center at the same appointment time for the second dose of the vaccine on Saturday, Feb. 13. Participants should note that just one dose of the vaccine does not offer full protection. Both doses are required to achieve the desired immune response.
- The Florida Division of Emergency Management selected this pilot site point of distribution. Escambia County Emergency Management partnered with Community Health Northwest Florida and the Florida Department of Health-Escambia County to administer the vaccines.

- Eligible individuals can make appointments beginning today, using the online reservation system at publix.com/covidvaccine, with vaccinations starting Thursday, Jan. 14. Vaccinations are provided to eligible individuals, by appointment only, while supplies last, and at no cost to the individual. Customers with health insurance will need to bring their insurance card to their scheduled appointment. Customers without health insurance will need to provide their driver’s license or Social Security number.
