The media is invited to attend a press conference, Friday, Oct. 2, at the Public Safety building, 6575 N. "W" St., inside the media room regarding the latest update on Hurricane Sally. The press conference will take place at 3 p.m. The meeting will also be streamed live on the Escambia County Emergency Management Facebook page and viewed live on myescambia.com/ectv, channel 4/1004 on Cox, channel 98 for Spectrum and Mediacom (Pensacola Beach) subscribers and channel 99 for AT&T U-verse subscribers.

Escambia County has received a FEMA Disaster Declaration for Individual Assistance. This declaration will allow those who have been impacted by Hurricane Sally to apply for the Individuals and Households Program. With this announcement, families impacted by Hurricane Sally now have access to critical FEMA programs, including housing assistance, crisis counseling, disaster unemployment assistance, Small Business Administration (SBA) assistance, disaster legal services and case management.

In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions Friday, Oct. 2 in Commission Districts 1 and 3. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.

A burn ban will begin Friday, Oct. 2 at 8 a.m. for Escambia County until further notice. The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners and the Escambia County Fire Rescue Fire Chief find that the circumstances present in Escambia County create a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, ECAT will launch bus Route 20 to help transport passengers between Escambia County and the City of Gulf Breeze. The Pensacola Bay Bridge on U.S. 98 was damaged during Hurricane Sally and will be closed while FDOT conducts inspections and makes repairs. ECAT bus fares remain suspended.
