Public Invited to Give Input on Hollice T. Williams Stormwater Park Design

Published Dec 7, 2020

Escambia County and the City of Pensacola continue to engage the public in transforming Hollice T. Williams Stormwater Park into an innovative and iconic urban green space for the community to enjoy. Residents are invited to participate in two online surveys to guide the future design of the community park.

The online surveys are available now through the end of 2020 at myHTWpark.com. Residents are encouraged to share their experiences and thoughts about potential elements to be included in the community park.

A Park User Survey and a Visual Preference Survey will request feedback from the public on park programming, including the types of recreational and cultural elements they would like to see in the new space. Participants will be asked for their feature preferences, such as playgrounds, green spaces and multi-use fields to be included in the park’s leisure and recreation plan and have an opportunity to see how those elements fit within the layout.

The new Hollice T. Williams Stormwater Park will serve as a place to play, reflect and connect with the surrounding community while also improving water quality and addressing stormwater concerns in the area. A portion of the runoff from adjacent streets and the I-110 overpass will be captured and treated before being released into Pensacola Bay. The funding source for design of the project is a RESTORE Direct Component grant.

The Hollice T. Williams Stormwater Park will include two separate design and construction phases. The first phase consists of planning, design and construction of the skate park, which will be located south of Jackson Street near the existing community garden and will begin construction in 2021. The second phase will be the expansion of the existing park, which includes new amenities and is planned to start construction in 2022.

Public engagement opportunities will be provided throughout the project. For details and more information, visit myHTWpark.com.
