Escambia County is pleased to announce an enhanced COVID-19 dashboard at myescambia.com/covid19dashboard. The enhanced dashboard now also include cases per day showing previous days, the positivity rate per week, testing per week, current COVID-19 hospitalizations provided by the local hospitals and available hospital and ICU beds per the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). The dashboard is also mobile-friendly, and it will be linked from the county's COVID-19 and home web pages. Please note some of the frames have arrows or tabs to display additional data.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is seeking county residents interested in volunteering for an “At-Large” appointment to the Escambia County Disability Awareness Committee. In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in Escambia County, the Mosquito Control Division has filed a "Notice of Intent" to proceed with fogging missions Wednesday, July 8 in Commission Districts 1, 4 and 5. Mission hours vary, but typically occur in the evening hours from 6-9:30 p.m.

Excelsior Drive will experience road closures and detours beginning Wednesday, July 8 for approximately two weeks. Excelsior Drive will be closed to through traffic at 9 a.m. Traffic will be detoured along Olive Road to Six Pence Drive detoured around to the north intersection of Pompano Drive and Excelsior Drive. Excelsior Drive can be accessed at the intersection of Pompano Drive and Excelsior Drive.

Through contact tracing more inmates have tested positive at the Escambia County Jail. Out of the 44 inmates tested, 38 have tested positive, four have tested negative and two are awaiting results. All of the inmates who have tested positive are not presenting medical concerns. Two of the units in the jail have been turned into isolation zones to house the inmates who have tested positive to try to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Escambia County is launching a public health campaign, "Mask Up, Escambia!" focused on informing residents and visitors that masks are recommended by the CDC. In addition, the county will distribute face masks for the public while supplies last at community centers, libraries and at Pensacola Beach beginning today, Thursday, July 2, during normal business hours.

Three inmates at the Escambia County Jail have tested positive for COVID-19 as of this morning. Over the course of four months, the jail has tested over 30 inmates and these are the first three inmates who have tested positive. The three inmates are in a medical unit and are not presenting medical concerns. The three units that the positive inmates came from are being offered testing and will remain in their units collectively pending the results.

The Agenda Review will begin at 9 a.m., followed by Public Forum at 4:30 p.m. and the BCC Regular Meeting at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, found on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.
