The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners approved the employment agreement and the operating agreement between Dr. Deanna A. Oleske and District One Medical Examiner Support, Inc., pursuant to Florida statutes 406.06(3) and 406.08(1), on Nov. 5, 2020. This action gets Dr. Oleske one step closer to becoming the next District 1 medical examiner. On Friday, Nov. 6, 2020, the State Medical Examiners Commission will vote and take final action to forward Dr. Oleske’s name to the governor for appointment as the next District 1 medical examiner.

Home fires occur more in the winter months than any other time of year. According to the National Fire Protection Association, heating equipment is one of the leading causes of home fire deaths and space heaters account for 4 out of 5 home heating fire deaths.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced it is temporarily closing the Business Recovery Center located in the East Pensacola Heights Clubhouse in Pensacola. The Center closed for SBA disaster assistance at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and will reopen to resume its regular operations at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5. The facility will be used as a polling place for the election.
