    Tropical Storm Claudette is moving through the region with the outer bands in our area bringing possible tornadoes, flash flooding and life-threatening surf/rip currents. Escambia County is under a tropical storm warning with tropical storm conditions expected throughout Saturday. Escambia County is currently under a Flash Flood Warning until 4:30 p.m. and a Tornado Watch has been issued for portions of Escambia County until 7 p.m.

  • Tropical Storm Warning Update from Escambia County

    A Tropical Storm is expected to form later today or tonight prior to landfall in southeast Louisiana. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for coastal AL coastal areas of the western Florida Panhandle. Potential for minimal tropical storm force winds (mainly in gusts of 40-50 mph) along the coast. Flooding and life threatening surf/rip currents are the primary threats with this system.

  • FDOT Re-Opens Pensacola Bay Bridge to Four Lanes

    The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reopened the Pensacola Bay Bridge to four lanes of traffic this morning in phases, re-establishing the safe and efficient connection between the communities of Gulf Breeze and Pensacola. The traffic pattern reverted to the configuration on the bridge prior to when it was damaged by Hurricane Sally on Sept. 18, 2020.

  • Heat Safety Tips from Escambia County

    With the National Weather Service of Mobile predicting the hottest weekend of the year, Escambia County encourages residents to practice heat safety and know the potential risks associated with high temperatures. NWS is forecasting a heat index of 107 degrees for the Escambia County area on Saturday, and a heat index of 109 degrees on Sunday. Heat advisories may also be issued over the weekend.

  • Tropical Weather Threat Update

    Escambia County Emergency Management is closely monitoring the potential for tropical development in the western Gulf of Mexico later this week. A tropical disturbance over the Bay of Campeche in the far southern Gulf of Mexico this morning is expected to gradually become better organized by the end of this week and lift north across the western Gulf of Mexico. A tropical depression is likely to form late Thursday or Friday.

  • District 3 Ensley North Neighborhood Cleanup Collects 61 Tons of Debris

    Escambia County collected and disposed of more than 61 tons (122,000 pounds) of debris during the District 3 Ensley North Neighborhood Cleanup on May 26, as part of the county's ongoing effort to help keep local neighborhoods and communities clean and safe. The event allowed residents to leave items at the curb to be disposed of free of charge by the county and partnering agencies.
