Memorial Route for Lt. Terrell Jackson Saturday, Jan. 21

The community is invited to pay their respects to Escambia County Fire Rescue Lt. Terrell Jackson on Saturday, Jan. 21, when he will be honored with a service and memorial procession before being laid to rest.

Saturday’s procession will begin immediately following the funeral service. ECFR will be joined by family, friends, firefighters, law enforcement, service members, and first responders from the local area and across the region to pay tribute to Lt. Jackson.

Those wanting to pay their respects along the route are asked to please follow these safety rules:

  • Procession route will begin at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church proceeding south on "W" Street, then turning right onto Massachusetts Avenue, ending at Resthaven Gardens Cemetery.
  • Do not block entrances or exits at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church.
  • Anyone near the route, please be aware traffic will potentially be stopped and delayed for approximately 45-60 minutes. Procession traffic may impact the funeral route from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. You may want to avoid the area altogether.
  • Always follow the direction of law enforcement.
  • Drivers are asked to be patient as the route will be temporarily blocked for the procession.
  • For people paying respects, please stay away from roads edge and look both ways before crossing any road.
  • Please dress appropriately for weather conditions.

Information for Vigil, Celebration of Life and Burial

Vigil: Friday, Jan. 20, from 3-6 p.m. at Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel, located at 55 Coast Road.

Celebration of Life: Saturday, Jan. 21, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church, located at 6205 North "W" Street. The Celebration of Life service will be streamed live on the Escambia County Fire Rescue Facebook page.

Burial: Saturday, Jan. 21, following the Celebration of Life. The burial will take place at Resthaven Gardens Cemetery, located at 1084 Massachusetts Avenue.

Traffic Notice During Burial Service

Fire apparatus will park along Massachusetts Avenue during the burial service. During the burial service, traffic on Massachusetts Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Harve Way and Fennel Street. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office will provide traffic assistance.

About Lt. Terrell Jackson

Lt. Terrell Jackson passed away on Monday, Jan. 9, after experiencing a medical emergency. Lt. Jackson began his career with ECFR as a volunteer firefighter in 2007, beginning with the Ferry Pass Volunteer Fire Department. On July 18, 2013, Lt. Jackson became a full-time firefighter. As a firefighter, he demonstrated a dedicated work ethic and compassion. His leadership and capabilities led to his promotion to lieutenant on Oct. 2, 2021. As a lieutenant, Terrell Jackson continued to show his dedication and passion for the job as he mentored firefighters and worked as the company officer on several different assignments. He has been described as a "firefighter's firefighter" and has always led through his actions.
