Due to the high volume of applications submitted, funding is no longer available. The Natural Resources Conservation Division is preparing for a prescribed burn in the Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve. Staff anticipates conducting burn activities Friday, Jan. 27, weather permitting. The area for the proposed burn is approximately 28 acres and located south of Highway 98, west of Fairfield Drive, north of Gulf Beach Highway, and east of Blue Angel Parkway.

On Friday, Jan. 13, an Escambia County "Alert Escambia" emergency notification was broadcasted to help locate a missing child. The alert informed the public of the last known whereabouts and detailed description of the child. Fortunately, the child was located approximately an hour after the alert was distributed.

The Florida Rapid Intervention Training Operations Group, a training organization instructing the FFCA since 2012, has been recognized for the award alongside Captain Richardson.
