West Detroit Boulevard between Doris and Ryan avenues will experience road closures with lane detours beginning Tuesday, June 6. During this time, crews will be performing roadway construction and pipe work. The road is expected to re-open by Tuesday, June 20.

Escambia County Fire Rescue will hold two physical abilities tests Saturday, June 3, and Monday, June 5. Both tests will take place at Pensacola Fire Department Station 4, 1 N. "Q" St., at 8 a.m. and is open to anyone interested in joining Escambia County Fire Rescue. Participants should arrive 30 minutes early to sign in.

The Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) will launch their free, open-air trolley service along Pensacola Beach this Memorial Day weekend, beginning Friday, May 26. The 2023 Pensacola Beach Island Trolley, operated by Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT), will run daily from 4 p.m. to midnight through Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 4.

Escambia County Sea Turtle Patrol volunteers recorded the first nest of the 2023 season on Pensacola Beach early Saturday morning, May 20, with help from nearby hotel staff who spotted the nest before volunteers arrived. The nest is a loggerhead, which account for 90% of nests laid in Escambia County.

Longleaf Drive between Wymart Road and Kemp Drive will experience short-term lane detours beginning Wednesday, May 24 while construction takes place.
