    Escambia County is encouraging residents and visitors to closely monitor official weather sources for information regarding Tropical Storm Zeta. The National Weather Service of Mobile is forecasting potential local impacts from Tropical Storm Zeta to include heavy rainfall, a high rip current risk, rough surf, coastal flooding, strong winds and severe weather by the middle of next week. Details regarding the area of greatest risks and impacts will be refined as confidence increases.

  • Escambia County in the Top 25 for Census Self-Response in Florida

    According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the 2020 Census data collection has been completed with well over 99.9% of addresses nationwide accounted for. As of Friday, Oct. 16, the national self-response rate is 67.0%, with Escambia County's self-response rate as 64.6%, the City of Pensacola’s response rate as 68.8% and Florida’s self-response rate as 63.8%. Escambia County is in the top 25 for Census self-response in Florida, ranking at 24.

  • Escambia County to Complete First Countywide Pass of Debris Removal After Sally

    Escambia County will complete the first substantial pass of debris removal countywide Friday, Oct. 23. The county began its recovery process in the wake of Hurricane Sally with curbside removal of debris for residents on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Contractors expect it will take a total of 90 days to accomplish the debris removal.

    Escambia County 4-H is proud to announce that their meat judging team placed second at the National 4-H Meat Judging Contest. The team represented Florida 4-H at the contest held on Oct. 20, 2020 at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. Participants had to identify 30 retail cuts, place six retail, wholesale, and carcass classes, and give three sets of oral reasons.

    Pensacola Beach Lifeguards shifted to winter staffing levels Monday, Oct. 19, and the lifeguard towers have been taken off the beach until the 2021 lifeguard season. Lifeguards will maintain a presence on Pensacola Beach throughout the winter primarily via patrol vehicles, but they will have a presence at the Casino Beach location only after Oct. 19.
