While a joyous time of year, cold weather, holiday decorations and festivities can create serious fire dangers. Firefighters hope to reduce the number of fires by promoting simple, life-saving holiday safety tips each day in December.

Escambia County Fire Rescue will conduct a turkey fryer fire safety demonstration on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at Escambia County Fire Station 17, located at 1700 N. "W" St. The demonstration will provide citizens and the media an example of several key concerns and dangers involved with not taking proper safety precautions when frying turkeys in outdoor oil fryers. The goal is to educate the public and prevent a Thanksgiving tragedy.
