Published Jun 30, 2021

Escambia County set a record for the second busiest day motorists went to Pensacola Beach via the Bob Sikes bridge on Saturday, June 26 with 22,267 vehicles counted. This count was more than any day in 2019 or 2020. The busiest day was July 1, 2017 with 22,555 vehicles.

"I'd like to thank our engineering and public works departments for making traffic flow improvements on Pensacola Beach over the past two years, and we are benefitting from those improvements," said Chairman and District 4 County Commissioner Robert Bender. "We are working on completing the access road, which will be another great improvement for Pensacola Beach Boulevard.”

The county recently made mobility enhancements for pedestrians and cyclists over the Bob Sikes Bridge and throughout Pensacola Beach. Bender added, "I'd like to remind the public that there are many different ways to get to Pensacola Beach, especially for July Fourth and the Blue Angels weekends. Please plan ahead, watch the live traffic cams before you leave, and please be safe this weekend."
