The right lane of westbound Interstate 10 near the Scenic Highway overpass at exit 17 will be closed from 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, to 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 16. Additionally, traffic in the left lane of Interstate 10 will be slowed by Florida Highway Patrol escort vehicles between the hours of 12 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Crews will perform pavement core sampling and surveying on State Road 97 over Sandy Hollow Creek Bridge, Hanks Road over Breastworks Creek Bridge and Bratt Road over Canoe Creek Bridge in Escambia County on Tuesday, May 13. Lane restrictions will be in effect from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

The Florida State Fire Marshal has returned custody of the Escambia County Central Booking and Detention facility back to the control of the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners. The State Fire Marshal’s Office took over control of the property following an explosion within the building on Wednesday April 30th. Attached at the bottom of this page is a letter from the State Fire Marshal’s Office regarding the transition and the status of the ongoing investigation.
