The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare will offer a "Home for the Holidays" adoption special now through Dec. 31, 2022. Anyone looking to adopt will be able to take home a cat or kitten for $10, or a dog or puppy for just $25. Escambia County residents are required to pay a separate $11 licensing fee at the time of adoption.

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners will hold three meetings Thursday, Nov. 3. Agenda review begins at 9 a.m., public forum begins at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in the board chambers of the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, located on the first floor of 221 Palafox Place.

Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare would like to remind the public of their free pet adoption special available until Monday, Oct. 31. Licensing fees will also be waived during this time. Adoption fees include spay or neutering services, microchips, heartworm tests and initial vaccinations including rabies vaccinations.

Construction crews have temporarily shifted eastbound traffic to the westbound bridge over Simpson River. The shift is expected to be in place through March 2023. During this time, there will be two westbound lanes and one eastbound travel lane using the westbound bridge.
