The Crescent Lake area will receive funding from the Emergency Watershed Protection Program to assist with the restoration of Crescent Lake and dam repairs. The area received extensive damage as a result of the breaching and destruction of the Crescent Lake dam during the April 29, 2014 flooding event. \r\n

The discussion topics for the Special Board of County Commissioners’ Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 9 a.m. have been amended to include discussion of potential sites for construction of a new corrections facility. During the meeting, the Board of County Commissioners is also expected to to discuss issues concerning the Escambia County Area Transit. The meeting will be held in the Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building, Board Chambers, Room 100, 221 Palafox Place, Pensacola, Florida.

Interstate 10 (I-10) westbound, near the Scenic Highway overpass in Escambia County will be restricted to one lane from 7 p.m. Friday, February 13, to 6:30 a.m. Saturday, February 14, and Monday, February 16, through Thursday, February 19, from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. as crews perform deck work for the new Scenic Highway overpass.

Beginning today through February 13, motorists may experience intermittent lane closures on Pensacola Beach as Escambia County Contractor crews and the Santa Rosa Island Authority work to enhance the pedestrian crossings from the Beach Marina/Quiet Water Beach Area to Avenida 23. The improvements will consist of pedestrian crossing signage, pavement markings and pedestrian activated warning sign installation. These improvements are being implemented to enhance pedestrian safety and to reflect recent Statutory changes in Florida's pedestrian law, which mandate that motorists stop when approaching pedestrians within a marked, mid-block crosswalk.
