PLEASE NOTE: A data entry error exists regarding the ”died in custody” category. Animal Control officers incorrectly entered deceased animals picked up in the field as “died” instead of using “DOA," or "dead on arrival." The vast majority of the “died in custody” statistics therefore relate to animals picked up in the field as a deceased animal request (animals involved in accidents or request for pickup from veterinary clinics). Animal Welfare is currently working with its software company to generate a report to help sort through the incorrect records.
