Your new best friend is waiting for you! Come visit the Escambia County Animal Shelter at 200 W. Fairfield Drive.

Adoption Hours

Monday through Friday: 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

NEW!  Adoption fees include altering of the animal (spay or neutering services), microchip and the animal's initial vaccinations, including rabies vaccinations. Escambia County residents will be required to purchase a license at the time of adoption. This is an additional $15 over the adoption fees and is paid separately.

What to Expect

  • When you enter the lobby, please tell the staff that you are interested in adopting a pet, and you will be guided to the viewing areas for dogs and cats. Any available pet can be identified by a blue or purple kennel card with the pet's picture on it.
  • If you are looking for a lost pet, please notify the staff. You will be asked for proof of ownership before being escorted through the building with a staff member. Proof of ownership can include pictures of your pet, vaccination records, identifying marks on your pet, tags and/or microchips. There will be a fee associated with the redemption which varies with every pet. (Please see the fee schedule for more details.)
  • Information on the available pets can be requested from the staff member at the front desk. You may also call 850-595-3075 for this information. You will need to provide the name of the pet, animal ID, or the kennel number.
  • When you have selected a pet for adoption, our staff will walk you through the adoption process. This includes the pets medical history, microchip registration, and your adoption contract.
Animals Not Available for Adoption

While visiting the shelter, you may see animals that are still on hold and not yet available for adoption. If you are interested in adopting one of these animals, you will have to monitor it either at 24PetConnect or by visiting the shelter.

  • Shelter staff are unable to keep a list and contact individuals who are interested in adopting an animal when it becomes available.
  • We cannot hold or reserve animals, as all adoptions are done on a “first come, first served” basis.
