The Escambia County Animal Shelter is now accepting online donations to help offset the care and feeding of animals under their care. To donate, simply click the “Donate” link on our Animal Services to open a page on PayPal.com where you can donate using either a PayPal account or a major credit card. After completing the transaction, PayPal will e-mail you a receipt for the donation.

The West Florida Public Library will host a public meeting on January 16 to provide a format for public discussion and input regarding the future direction of our library system. The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Escambia County Extension Services Office, 3740 Stephani Road in Cantonment.

In celebration of Florida’s Arbor Day, Escambia County, University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Science (UF/IFAS) Extension and the Florida Forestry Service (FFS) will be giving away 4,000 seedling trees. Species include Crabapple, Mayhaw, Cherrybark Oak, River Birch, Wax Myrtle and Bald Cypress. Participants will receive two tree seedlings of their choice.
