Fort Pickens Area Closes Due to Weather

Gulf Islands National Seashore will close the Fort Pickens Area to all incoming public use due to predicted winds and high surf his weekend, effective today, Friday, December 20, at 5 p.m. through Sunday, December 22.

All day use visitors and campers currently at Fort Pickens will be asked to leave by 5 p.m. today.  

Fort Barrancas will be open Saturday and Sunday, December 21 and 22, so visitors may enjoy an alternate site while Fort Pickens is closed.  All park visitor centers will be closed on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, and New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1.
