Innerarity Island Water and Sewer Project

The Florida legislature has appropriated Escambia County as the receiver of the abandoned Innerarity Island water and sewer utilities. The utilities are in need of significant upgrades.

Escambia County has entered into an inter-local agreement with ECUA to oversee and manage the upgrades to the water system. Once the project is complete the ECUA will accept the water system for maintenance.  The water system design and construction is funded by a $1M FDEP grant.  In July 2017, the FDEP awarded an additional $500,000 to the grant.

In regards to the sewer system, Escambia County will be working on the inter-local with ECUA for the sewer system, has passed an MSBU Ordinance for the funding of the design of the sewer system, and recently sent Commissioner Doug Underhill to Tallahassee to request additional state funding for the construction of the sewer system.
