Drivers on Interstate 10 (I-10) will encounter nighttime lane closures tonight, Monday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 17, at the eastbound I-10 on-ramp from northbound U.S. 29 and the outside eastbound I-10 lane to east of milepost 10.75. Lane restrictions will remain in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for roadway repair work. \r\n\r\n

Bauer Road remains closed as workers complete repairs to the paved shoulders. Crews are also placing guardrail and striping the roadway. The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of June, weather permitting.\r\nAll planned construction activities may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Escambia County’s Mosquito Control Division encourages horse owners to take preventative actions by vaccinating their horses for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in the light of increased production of mosquito species that may carry and transmit this widespread disease. \r\n\r\nRecent local weather events have contributed to the emergence of both the primary and secondary vectors of EEE, a severe to fatal disease transmitted to horses by several distinctive mosquito species. Horses are “accidental hosts” of this disease, with a natural cycle that typically involves birds and the primary vector, Culiseta melanura, inhabiting cypress hammocks and other freshwater swampy areas. \r\n

A Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) occurred today, Monday, June 9, at 3615 N. Pace Boulevard. The overflow is estimated at 800 gallons. The Escambia County Health Department and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection were notified.
