Escambia County Personnel Honored During 3rd Annual Salute to First Responders

On Wednesday, Sept. 21, five Escambia County first responders were recognized during the 3rd Annual Salute to First Responders.

The following Escambia County personnel were honored during the ceremony as award recipients:

  • Brad Hattaway - Escambia County Emergency Management
  • Mark Carter - Escambia County Emergency Communications
  • Alexander Johnson - Pensacola Beach Lifeguards
  • Houston Harvell - Escambia County EMS
  • Stephen Boothe - Escambia County Fire Rescue

“I’m honored and privileged to work alongside our first responders that were recognized today," said Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore. "These first responders work day and night to serve the citizens of Escambia County and are worthy of this recognition.”

Additionally, retired Escambia County Fire Rescue captain Craig Ammons was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Capt. Ammons served the citizens of Escambia County for 36 years as a first responder before retiring on Dec. 17, 2021.

“Congratulations to all our first responders that were recognized today," said Escambia County District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender. "These men and women are on the frontline to serve our citizens, providing lifesaving care, protection and comfort to those who need it most. I am grateful for their service and dedication to Escambia County.”

About Salute to First Responders

Salute to First Responders is an honorary ceremony recognizing our local heroes and all that they do for the community. The following first responders were also honored during the ceremony:

  • Ashley Baxley - Molino Forestry Station
  • OB Pettit - Escambia County Search and Rescue
  • Sean Patterson - Escambia County Sheriff's Office
  • John Bartholomew - Pensacola Fire Department
  • Keith Tourney - Pensacola Police Department
  • Dianna McCreary - City of Pensacola Dispatchers
