Escambia County has developed an application review process for developers seeking the minimum local government contribution for Florida Housing Finance Corporation's competitive applications for multifamily housing tax credits. This application is solely for the use of applicants seeking the Local Government Area of Opportunity Contribution for proposed developments for application to FHFC RFAs listed below:
- 2023-201 Housing Credit Financing for Affordable Housing Developments Located in Small and Medium Counties
Funds will be available only for proposals that meet the county’s criteria. Successful applicants must comply with all rules and regulations of the county’s housing programs. Funding is subject to availability. In each instance, the minimum contribution required by FHFC will be provided. Only one application per RFA will be supported for the Local Government Area of Opportunity. County financial support, if awarded, will be provided by the Escambia County Housing Finance Authority. By accepting the award, the developer agrees to use ECHFA as the bond issuer for the project.
Escambia County funding will be in the form of a deferred loan, with the provided amount depreciating over the term of the loan, provided the property is not in default of program agreement and mortgage terms. Escambia County reserves the right to amend and/or rescind this funding opportunity at any time prior to the final award and approval of any contract by the Board of County Commissioners.
